A horse gogue is a training aid designed to encourage a horse to lower its head and bring its neck into a more rounded, or “self-carriage” position. It works by applying gentle pressure on the poll (the back of the horse’s head) and the corners of the mouth when the horse raises its head too high. This pressure encourages the horse to drop its head and engage its back muscles, promoting better posture and suppleness.
